Dear Sir/Madam :
I am writing to apply for your
master's degree program in Harvard University in which I am enormously
interested.
I will apply Computer Science
program because I want to continue my education to be more focused on Computer
science. In addition to the linearity of the program from my previous program,
the reason I am taking this master's program is because of my passion on this
program. My name is Ilham Faizi. I am a student of Gunadarma University who
study Information System major, Faculty of Computer Science.
After I graduated I aspire to be
a sophisticated game developer. My hobby is playing games, but in playing my
game not just to play it. I also do business in a game and diligently to follow
the national game championships. My achievements in the game world is the first
champion PBNC by representing the city team Jakarta. Although I am happy to
play the game but my academic value is also good to be said and not to be ugly
due to playing games. I am very happy to play the game and I became
increasingly interested in improving the quality of games in the world as well
as becoming the first famous game developer from Indonesia and the name of the
nation.
Since I was in junior high school
and continuing to a higher level I always follow an intra-school organization
called OSIS. My school organization has been mobilizing to host a city-level
sporting performance which is attended by several schools as well as a social
service for people who can not afford around my school because my school is
surrounded by many underprivileged communities. Besides, I also have special
skills in sports. I am proficient in basketball games, swimming and also chess.
When I studied at Gunadarma
University, I gained much experience in computer science. I studied many
programming languages, one of which is C #. In the sixth semester I conducted a
study on the introduction of ship safety equipment using augmented reality
technology that is implemented on a smartphone. I chose Augmented reality because
I believe that in this day and age augmented reality will be worldwide and well
liked by the people. My research was also appreciated by the value of A by my
campus.
After my graduation I would be
very interested in studying to continue my master's degree program in Harvard
University at the Computer Science Program. If I am selected to be one of the
scholarship recipients to study at Harvard University I will dedicate myself
and give the best and proud Harvard University. Planning ahead if I have received
this scholarship I will use this opportunity with the best possible. It will
help my parent's already single parent economy and build a bright future by
becoming a sophisticated Game Developer. Do not forget to build the game world
for the better and make people's view-about the game to be positive. Because
playing the game is not always negative but can also hone the performance and
synchronization of our right and left brain so that we are more creative.
So letters of this motivation I
make, hopefully Harvard University may consider me a candidate for a

Subject – Verb Agreement Analysis : Augmented Reality Technology Will Worldwide in 2018!
1.1.
Background
In
information technology science era who more sophiscticated, chance for the
business man is open wider. How not? With their information technology who
developed very fast people can doing business more easily and become more
effective in doing business.
Technology
who is being rampant in the year of 2018 are Augmented Reality technology. Augmented
reality is an enhanced version of the physical, real-world reality of which
elements are superimposed by computer-generated or extracted real-world sensor
input such as sound, video, graphics or haptics. With this augmented reality
technology people will be more interested to try out a product that will be
marketed. Utilization of augmented reality technology in business is by making
a new breakthrough of its products are integrated with this technology.
Basically,
it’s about enhancing the real world with an overlay served by a computing
device. Although the easiest way to picture this is a visual image, the
augmentation can be done using sound, touch, or any other sense. We just don’t
have the technology yet to create any given taste or smell. Augmented reality
technology is widely applied to various things, namely on social media, games,
e-commerce, architecture and interior design, as well as on transportation.
In social
media, the example is camera filter snapchat or Instagram. AR on this snapchat filter
not only show picture, but they can interact with user. Some special effects
reacting to what they do with their face: blinking, raising their eyebrows, or
opening their mouth for interaction with filter in snapchat to make filter
moving or animating. Snapchat recognizes a face by comparing a statistical
model to the image seen by a phone’s camera.
The example
Augmented reality technology in e-commerce is catalogue book of IKEA. This
catalog book displays some product images offered by IKEA and the product can
be projected directly to place on the user's home corner. In displaying its
products, users can also change the color of the product.
In
transportation, augmented reality technology implemented on the maps
application to find travel routes with head-up Display (HUD). At CES 2017 in
Las Vegas, one of many brands of automotive industry Volkswagen showed among
other features its AR head-up display (HUD). With this technology will make
drivers more focus on the road.
In my opinion,
this augmented reality technology is a very helpful technology in terms of
business. As in the example of the use of technology in some areas above from
the explanation it is seen that this technology can affect a product so that
people are more interested in trying a product. In social media users can use
the application interactively. In e-commerce catalogue book of IKEA also become
an important role to introduce the product to a potential buyer in order to
view the products offered. And best of it is from the transportation, with the
HUD technology implemented with augmented reality technology then the driver
will be easier in finding addresses by using ARHUD and will focus more on the
road and reduce the risk of accidents. And I'm sure this augmented reality
technology will be famous in 2018.
1.2 Theory
Although you
are probably already familiar with basic subject-verb agreement, this chapter
begins with a quick review of basic agreement rules.
Subjects and verbs must
AGREE with one another in number (singular or
plural). Thus, if a subject is singular, its verb must also be
singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be plural.
In the present tense, nouns and
verbs form plurals in opposite ways: nouns ADD an s to
the singular form; verbs REMOVE the s from
the singular form.
This handout gives you several
guidelines to help your subjects and verbs agree.
1. When
the subject of a sentence is composed of two or more nouns or pronouns
connected by and, use a plural verb.
She and her
friends are at the fair.
2. When
two or more singular nouns or pronouns are connected by or or nor,
use a singular verb.
The book or the
pen is in the drawer.
3. When
a compound subject contains both a singular and a plural noun or pronoun joined
by or or nor, the verb should agree with the part
of the subject that is nearer the verb.
The boy or his
friends run every day.
His friends or the
boy runs every day.
4. Doesn't is
a contraction of does not and should be used only with a
singular subject. Don't is a contraction of do not and
should be used only with a plural subject. The exception to this rule appears
in the case of the first person and second person pronouns I and you.
With these pronouns, the contraction don't should be used.
He doesn't like it.
They don't like it.
5. Do
not be misled by a phrase that comes between the subject and the verb. The verb
agrees with the subject, not with a noun or pronoun in the phrase.
One of
the boxes is open
The people who
listen to that music are few.
The team captain,
as well as his players, is anxious.
The book,
including all the chapters in the first section, is boring.
The woman with
all the dogs walks down my street.
6. The
words each, each one, either, neither, everyone, everybody, anybody, anyone,
nobody, somebody, someone, and no one are singular and require a singular verb.
Each of
these hot dogs is juicy.
Everybody knows Mr.
Jones.
Either is correct.
7. Nouns
such as civics, mathematics, dollars, measles, and news require singular verbs.
The news is on
at six.
Note: The
word dollars is a special case. When talking about an amount
of money, it requires a singular verb, but when referring to the dollars
themselves, a plural verb is required.
Five dollars is a
lot of money.
Dollars are often
used instead of rubles in Russia.
8. Nouns
such as scissors, tweezers, trousers, and shears require plural verbs. (There
are two parts to these things.)
These
scissors are dull.
Those
trousers are made of wool.
9. In
sentences beginning with "there is" or "there are," the
subject follows the verb. Since "there" is not the subject, the verb
agrees with what follows.
There are many
questions.
There is a
question.
10. Collective
nouns are words that imply more than one person but that are considered
singular and take a singular verb, such as group, team, committee, class, and
family.
The team runs during
practice.
The committee decides how
to proceed.
The family has a
long history.
My
family has never been able to agree.
The crew is
preparing to dock the ship.
This sentence is
referring to the individual efforts of each crew member. The Gregg
Reference Manual provides excellent explanations of subject-verb
agreement (section 10: 1001).
11. Expressions
such as with, together with, including, accompanied by, in addition to, or as
well do not change the number of the subject. If the subject is singular, the
verb is too.
The President,
accompanied by his wife, is traveling to India.

books, including yours, are in that box.

The conclusion
of all that is discussed that augmented reality technology today is growing.
This technology has colonized the business world so that business people take
advantage of this technology to advance their business activities so that
people are interested in their products. With the growing of it can be
ascertained in the year 2018 augmented reality will be worldwide because of its
various benefits. Analysis of the above background uses subject verb agreement.
Talk about subject verb agreement, Subjects and verbs must AGREE with one
another in number (singular or plural). If a subject is singular, its verb must
also be singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be plural. The
subject verb agreement matches a subject with a verb in a sentence whether it
is plural or singular.
